BLACK ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

Centriq Insurance is committed to Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) as it forms an integral part of the company’s business strategy and will ensure a sustainable business for all stakeholders into the future.

As a member of the financial services sector, the company has used the FSC as the guiding framework to advance the transformation that it believes will provide a catalyst for broader economic and social development in South Africa.

The Financial Sector Charter (FSC) came into effect in January 2004 to address BEE in the financial services industry. The gazetting of the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Code of Good Practice for Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) in 2007 introduced a significant regulatory development for BEE in South Africa. Centriq Insurance has taken a long term, holistic approach to implementing BEE, adhering to the sound business principles set out in the FSC and to have the company’s performance measured against targets as defined in the DTI generic scorecard.
